Designed As You Channels Guide in the Human Design Chart
CHANNELS
Channels in the Human Design chart denote consistent and reliable gifts and energies. Two gates connected will form a channel, which creates what is known as “definition”. It will mean that the two energy centers on either side of the channel will become defined (coloured in). A defined channel can be thought of as a line of communication between the two adjoining energy centers as there is free flowing energy between the two. Each channel is characterised by a specific theme or gift, and having a defined channel brings consistent emphasis to that trait. There are 36 possible channels that each person can have in their chart.
Channel 58 - 18: Judgment
Those with this channel can easily spot what needs to be corrected in order to make something better, more efficient and more desirable. They are great problem solvers and critical thinkers as they have an intuitive ability to enhance environments around them to create more ease and efficiency in their own and other’s lives. Their spleen provides an intuitive spontaneous signal that gives an inner knowing of how to improve something, which is designed to be used in their work and environment. Problems can arise if they use these skills inwards or in their relationships. They can set extremely high standards and expectations on themselves and others, which could be viewed as overly critical.
When the correction is about other people, they need to wait for the right timing and an energetic invite for advice (i.e. not just walking into someone's house and telling them everything that doesn’t work well). It can be hard to watch others doing things in less than perfect ways, when they know exactly how to make it better. However, they must understand that other people have different standards or priorities, and it is important to wait until invited for their advice. Also, they should focus on their own projects, rather than making people their projects.
Channel 38 – 28: Struggle
Those with this channel have the strong desire and ability to stand up and fight for what they feel is right, regardless of odds against them. Life can feel like an eternal struggle as they tackle unfairness and injustices in the world. They have an intuitive sense to know what things, people and projects are worth fighting for. If other people see it as impossible, they will see it as their mission to accomplish it.
Struggling for something gives their life meaning. There is an inherent demand that existence is more than just being born and dying, that there‘s something else. They bring an incredible struggle to find purpose. They bring the awareness that life is short and we don’t have time to sit around and do nothing. Those with this gate will take the steps towards overcoming struggles, which sometimes can feel like they are against the world. In this case, it is important to discern which battles to take on (use strategy and authority) and which to leave. Otherwise, they will be in their Not Self and feel defeated, and taken advantage of.
Channel 54 – 32: Transformation
Those with this channel are driven and determined to succeed and manifest their goals by applying themselves. They have an intuitive power greater than them, thrusting them towards what they set out to do. Their splenic instincts know which projects, people and things they should invest their time with, while their root momentum helps them fulfil their dreams. They can withstand pressure and failure by bringing their transformation energy to everything they do. They can pull themselves out of the hard and heavy, and get through the trials and tribulations. There can be a tendency to become a workaholic and not listen to their strategy and authority. They need to follow their intuitive instincts that are guiding them where to channel this hard working and determined energy.
Channel 53 – 42: Maturation
Those with this channel have strong initiating energy and power to start and finish aligned tasks. They are gifted at getting themselves and others airborn with projects, providing the launch pad and actions to begin. It is important to rely on their sacral response for where they should channel this strong starting energy through. Not just using this root energy to start things for the sake of it, as this will result in many open unfinished loops.
Channel 60 – 3: Mutation
Those with this channel are a force for change, evolution and mutation. They will constantly be transforming, and can feel like things are dramatically changing around them. This energy empowers themselves and others. They are designed to follow their gut response that is propelling them from one place to the next. They should not pressure themselves to stay in the same lane, as they are designed to have an ever changing direction and path. This is where their satisfaction and magnetism lies.
Channel 52 – 9: Concentration
Those with this gate have very focused, determined and concentrated energy that brings about improvement and success. Their action is well thought through and their mindset allows them to pinpoint targets to accomplish their goals. Their adrenaline from the root gives them momentum to get things moving, while their sacral gate 9 provides intention and a plan beforehand. They should always wait for an affirmative gut response before putting their plan into action. Giving themselves moments of stillness to focus and concentrate will lead them to their mastery.
Channel 19 – 49: Synthesis
Those with this channel are compassionate, sensual, sensitive and highly empathetic. They can naturally feel into another person and know what they need and want, without them even realising themselves. They have a strong desire to be needed, and the pressure from the root means that they can reach out to assist, support or encourage others. They have innate knowing and desire to give to their tribe, and create bonds that can last lifetimes. People feel seen, safe and grounded in this person’s company.
The key is to balance their own needs with the needs of others. This is when it becomes a beneficial scenario for all parties involved. They also need emotional clarity before knowing which people and projects they should channel these gifts through.
Channel 39 - 55: Emoting
Those with this channel have the energy to experience the full spectrum of emotions which helps and inspires others to feel. They provoke people that it’s okay to go “there” with their emotions, and that life is abundant with highs and lows. They can tap into the creativity and abundance of the Universe because emotions give us access to the deepest levels within us. It is beneficial to honour their emotions and give themselves time and space when they are on an emotional low or in a mood. They hold the lesson that life is all about feeling, emoting and experiencing all the ups and downs. This is a true abundant mindset - experience it all.
Channel 41 – 30: Recognition
Those with this channel are the dreamers, innovators and creators. They have a wild imagination that makes them a passionate visionary towards a better future. They have the drive and ambition to bring their creative ideas to reality. Their emotional wave means that they can have dramatic highs and lows but this fuels their creativity. Their fulfilment comes from waiting for emotional clarity and taking the steps to make their dreams a reality.
Channel 6 – 59: Connecting
Those with this channel have the ability and gift to form close bonds with people and projects by facilitating closeness, intimacy and sparking chemistry. They know how to break down walls to develop deep relationships. They are not interested in surface level connections. When it comes to work projects, if they are passionate about something, there is no stopping them. Their sacral energy will propel them forward. There is also a strong sacral sexual energy to create and sustain life.
Channel 37 – 40: Community
Those with this channel are usually the creator or holder of a tribe. They find their purpose through like-minded connections that support their goals and create a community along the way. They are the glue that holds everyone together.
They need to be in the right company if their fulfilment and success is to be achieved. If they are surrounded by unaligned people, things don’t seem to flow as naturally. They are the people that create a “soul family” - they bring people together who share the same values, beliefs and desires. Trust and loyalty is very important to those with this channel. They seek to make friends with people they work with or conduct business with. There is zero tolerance for anyone who reneges on a deal, sometimes banishing them from life.
Channel 22 – 12: Openness
Those with this channel have great depth and openness to them. Under the surface, they have an intensity of emotion and passion. They are very magnetic and draw people in with their charm and grace. They are generally very talented and may be inclined to express themselves through music, literature or other creative outlets.
Due to their emotional wave, they can also be quite moody. It is correct for them to give a voice to their emotions (solar plexus connected to the throat), as they should never be suppressed or dismissed. It is important to learn to wait for emotional clarity/calmness to speak about their emotions as if they act or speak too spontaneously, they may be left feeling regretful. They can feel very strongly about something one day, and totally different another. Before speaking about tough issues, wait for their emotional wave to pass so that they know how they actually feel about something. They are generally very talented and may be inclined to express themselves through music, literature or other creative outlets.
Channel 36 – 35: Transitoriness
Those with this channel live life to the fullest and have experienced many different things. They are often in search for stimulation, be it new places to visit, people to meet, opportunities at work. They are the natural thrillseekers who are willing to try anything. They inspire people towards emotional depth by empowering them to go there and do as much in life as possible. They are designed to experience new life opportunities, learn from them and then share them with others (solar plexus connected to the throat). By solving their own problems, they can communicate their stories and wisdom to help others. There can however, be a tendency to chase thrills or drama in order to satiate their thirst for constant stimulation.
Channel 27 – 50: Preservation
Those with this channel as the natural caregivers and caretakers. They have an intuitive sacral energy to know how to nurture and care for other people. This in turn gives them great satisfaction and fulfilment. They have been put on this Earth to help, save and care for themselves and others. It is important to tune into their gut response to stop them from over-giving and feeling taken for granted. They need to make sure that they don’t become a work horse for other people’s interests as this will lead them to feel depleted and frustrated. They must receive as much as they give. . Make sure you don’t become a workhouse looking after everyone else. Will be left feeling depleted and frustrated. In this space they can become resentful when others are not caring in the same way. But other people don’t have the same values and abilities to save and care as those with this channel.
Channel 34 – 10: Exploration
Those with this channel will master their life when they are doing what they love. Their happiness and satisfaction lies where they are following their positive gut response and not feeling guilty about this. They generate good energy and inspire others to follow their own path. They empower others by simply being themselves and embody self love. People and opportunities naturally are manifested to them in their flow. They have hacked life when they are doing what they love and are excited about.
Channel 34 – 57: Power
Those with this channel understand the importance and the power of being in the present moment. They have the gift of spontaneous instinctive knowing that provides clear intuitive guidance in the now. They receive quick intuitive hits that are showing them what is right and wrong for them. They need to act on these intuitive pings right away, rather than pre planning or allowing their mind to interfere (unless they have emotional authority). They are a strong force to bring about change and can spot what is coming next. They are forward thinking and can almost see into the future. They give life to ideas, projects, companies and communities. As long as they trust their intuition and gut, they have great potential for greatness.
Channel 34 – 20: Charisma
Those with this channel have the energy to directly manifest their desires into form. This is a manifesting generator channel as it connects the sacral directly to the throat. Those with this channel are highly magnetic and able to manifest great abundance and satisfaction when they are immersed in something that they love doing. They become a juicy, magnetic unstoppable force. Their charisma and light shines from them and people can’t get enough. They are designed to be spontaneous and speak their truth in the now, without processing or thinking about it (unless they have emotional authority). The throat is all about manifesting and creating things into existence. It is connected with the sacral, so whatever is this person’s desire or excitement - there is the capability to channel energy from gut response to birth into the world. The energy from their gut flows out of them. They are a bundle of energy and can rarely sit still. As long as their energy is coming from a positive sacral response, they should move full steam ahead. They should not wait for others to catch up with them. Others will see them as highly capable and ask for their assistance, but this person should only say “yes” if it is a gut yes.
Channel 5 – 15: Rhythm
Those with this channel understand that creating flow in life and being attuned with their natural rhythms and seasons is vital to success and happiness. They have rituals that keep them grounded, safe and inspired. They have a knack for the right timing and rhythm of things, often introducing newness just at the right time.
They will have usually created flow in their own life and found what works best for them. Even if it is against the grain of others. They do not like to be hurried and need to stay on their own schedule and timing. When they are in their flow, life seems effortless and natural. But when forced into someone else’s timing, life can become chaotic and unhappy. By listening to their gut response, they will remain in this happy state of natural rhythm and flow.
Channel 14 – 2: Beat
Those with this channel have transformative power that can turn rags into riches. They can take ideas and raw materials and alchemise into an amazing result. They can turn around a sinking ship. They know the direction and actions that need to be taken to get back on track. This sacral energy pumps new life force through relationships and work projects. They are good at handling finances, resources and managing property. When they apply these gifts to something that is a positive gut response, the potential is boundless.
Channel 29 – 46: Discovery
Those with this channel have the gift and ability to see things through to success. They persevere and succeed where others fail. If they commit to projects and people that light them up, they will find great prosperity and fulfilment. They have the staying power when they are moving in tune with their gut. When they are truly embodied in what they are doing and creating, they can take their projects and passions far.
Channel 44 – 26: Surrender
Those with this channel are natural conscious salespeople, charmers and negotiators. They know what will bring good into the world (whether that is a product, a person or a service) and know how exactly to sell it to the people who need it. They have the gift and ability to get a message across and sell good ideas with integrity. They know how to communicate in a way that lands and resonates with the people it aligns to. They are entrepreneurial by nature and are guided by their intuitive instincts to follow the right ventures, projects and company. Once something feels resonate and right for them, they have the motivation to make it happen.
Channel 57 – 10: Survival
Those with this channel have a strong intuitive knowing that speaks in the now, and guides them through life. They have a shield of protection that helps them navigate through possible danger. They need to follow what feels, sounds and smells right to them. It is their inner compass showing them what is an aligned decision. They have innate survival skills that help them in crises or to overcome obstacles. If fear pops up, it is important to feel it but do it anyway.
Channel 57 – 20: Brain Wave
Those with this channel are often one step ahead of us all. They are attuned to what is coming in the future and can spot success miles ahead of others. They can sense what sounds truthful about people and projects, which is intuitive guidance they should listen to. They are people that gain lightning bolt clarity and speak it spontaneously in the moment. They are designed to think on their feet and speak it. Watch out however, if they are constantly interrupting and talking over people as this can alienate others.
Channel 48 – 16: Talent
Those with this channel have a natural born talent that is designed to be developed and mastered. Their true mastery comes from committing to their natural skills and embracing them with enthusiasm and dedication. Their instinctual intuition means that they know what is right or resonate with them, so they need to follow this internal guidance system. Fear can present by telling them that they “don’t know enough” or their skills “aren’t good enough”. They need to trust their intuitive instincts rather than listening to their fears. First step is to recognise and value their skill, the second is to master and share (even before they feel they are ready).
If they stay in fear, they may use these gifts to give other’s success, or they spend their lives chasing another qualification or degree. Both being a disservice to their own oath. It is okay to keep developing and refining, but they also need to trust in the worthiness and gift of their abilities. They have a gift to share, even if they don’t think it is inherently valuable.
Channel 51 – 25: Initiation
Those with this channel have an impactful energy that shakes up environments and communities they are drawn to. They know that they are here to make an impact, so they should lean into this force propelling them to shake things up. They open the doors to new possibilities, movements and opportunities for others. They drive and push others to get the best out of themselves. They do need to be mindful that some people wish to be left in their comfort zone. They aren’t meant to impact everyone but the people that are on board. They can be fiercely competitive which can sometimes be perceived as arrogant. But as long as their heart and intention are in the right place, they will make the positive impact that they are here to create.
Channel 21 – 45: Money
Those with this channel have a natural ability and knowledge to manage and create money and resources. They are motivated to master the material world by generating wealth and making things happen. They know where resources are best used, how to maximise their investments and create more money. They have the energy of being able to direct people in a positive way, and distribute money in a way that benefits all. They seek financial freedom and do not like to be under someone else’s control. They would rather step into their power and control everything.
Channel 10 – 20: Awakening
Those with this channel have a voice for empowerment, self love and love of life. They are here to share empowering concepts around self love and transformation. They inspire others to experience life’s joys and see the beauty in even the most mundane moments. They don’t even need to communicate it, as it comes through in their energy and them living their best life. They are a beacon of this hope that life can be abundant and full, and that each person deserves a life of joy.
Channel 7 – 31: Alpha
Those with this channel have alpha male or female energy. They stand out as a leader of the pack. They are naturally selected as an obvious candidate for leadership. They have the power and presence to direct a group as they know how to arrange, assemble and organise people. If they are fearful or hiding from their power, they need to look at the blocks that are refraining them from stepping up. It is important to use their strategy/authority and lead where they feel called. Leadership is an ability, not an obligation. Leading the wrong projects or people can lead them to being in their Not Self. But the right, they will feel fulfilled, recognised and empowered to make positive change.
Channel 1 – 8: Inspiration
Those with this channel are creative role models who naturally inspire and influence others. They have a strong identity and voice for self expression where people trust and rely on their recommendations. They are designed to curate what they find good and desirable. People want to know what they think is new and cool, so they should share this with their community. They are great at promoting their own things, even as a Projector. They just need to explain to people why they think it is so great in a way that is fascinating to them.
Channel 13 – 33: Prodigal
Those with this channel have the gift of turning stories into wisdom. They learn from their own observations, failures, success, pain and joy. Those with the Prodigal channel are people that experience all in life and return back with stories that others can learn from. They become a fountain of wisdom and a true storyteller that becomes a guide for others. They listen to others stories or experience it themselves, then take time to process every detail, before they transform it into wisdom. They are not just here to share stories but share knowledge and mistakes so that they are not repeated by the next person. They can read people like a book and can have a much deeper level of understanding than others can grasp. Even startling people with profound perception. They usually have a great memory and always look back with retrospection and reflection.
Channel 62 – 17: Acceptance
Those with this channel are highly effective strategists who have a mind of logic, details and fact absorption. They combine their knowledge gained from experience and analytical brain to form their own concrete opinions. They are the people that ask a question to find the answer to them. They are always mentally organising information to create a full succinct picture. They are quite convincing and well researched so people do not often doubt their convincing opinions. They have the gift of being able to create and substantiate opinions by backing it up with evidence and facts. They are designed to speak their mind and share their opinions (mind connected with the throat). Their methodical mind is designed to create systems, methodologies and processes. This gift should not be used to obsess over things that don’t really matter or debating for the sake of it.
Channel 23 – 43: Structuring
Those with this channel have the gift and ability to translate new-age thoughts and ideas into transformational words. They have perspectives and opinions that are “before their time” as they are more the new paradigm way of thinking and doing things. Their ability is to translate these new truths in a way that will resonate with their audience. The goal is to get their message across in a simple, tactful manner. When their insight is accepted, they are considered a genius. If not, they can be suddenly viewed as odd. This channel’s nickname is the “Genius Freak”. The people that their message lands with will think they are a genius, and others who don’t get it, can think they are a freak. They agreed to come early in time to share these new truths but some people who aren’t ready to hear these unique insights may think that it is crazy.
A problem arises when people with this channel feel like they aren’t safe or insecure to share their insights and perspectives. This is a shame because we need these new truths to propel society forward. The key is to learn the right time and audience to say things to. They don’t need to overshare or share with everybody. Instead, they need to sense who is ready to hear what they have to say and only share with those people. If preaching to the wrong people, it won’t land and will result in them being in their Not Self. They can also choose what insights they share with certain people, and start testing it out to see who it resonates most with. The main thing is that the person with this channel sees themselves as a Genius - because they are! Their gift is to share new insights and downloads with the right people in the world so we can uplevel and evolve as a collective.
Channel 56 – 11: Curiosity
Those with this channel have an insatiable curiosity and are always seeking life’s meanings and finding ways to express them. They are always wanting to gain new information and get to the bottom of things to share with others. They are a treasure trove of inspirational ideas. They devour different philosophies, concepts, ideas and perspectives. They are a wealth of knowledge and are always seeking to learn more. They have an inclination to speak their mind, and best communicated in a creative and playful manner. They become very satisfied when they share their findings with others.
Channel 4 – 63: Logic
Those with this channel have a mind that processes information and the outside world logically. They have a mental pressure to understand and make sense of things. Their mind is formulated to be able to gain inspiration and turn that into an opinion or answer. This can be just for them, or shared with their community or collective. When it comes to decision making, they need to remember their strategy/authority is their inner compass, not their mind. The mind is for processing information, coming up with logical solutions, learning and formulating perspectives - not making decisions.
Channel 24 – 61: Awareness
Those with this channel are deep intellectual thinkers who seek to understand mystery and the esoteric. They open themselves up to getting realisations and aha’s which they then use to formulate their own opinions, methodologies and ideologies. They inspire others to think outside the box by asking questions that stretch our awareness. They have the gift of being able to review and rationalise what has happened to them and those around them.
However, they can exhaust themselves and others by always trying to rationalise everything. They can struggle to switch their brain off which can lead to mental exhaustion. They should practice moments of separating from their thoughts by meditating, listening to music, or taking a mindful walk in nature.
Channel 47 – 64: Abstraction
Those with this channel have an abstract mind where some things just make sense to them. Life is one great mystery that they want to solve. Their mind likes to wrestle with the abstract to make sense of everything in life. They reflect on past theories and philosophies in order to update current systems. They have their greatest realisations during moments of quiet solitude, so creating pockets of silence and peace in their day brings many rewards.
They should refrain from having to explain why things make sense to them or convince other people that the way they see things is the “right way”. It just needs to be their “right way”. The more comfortable they become with not explaining it, other people will mirror this energy.
